Isla de Vieques, a Spanish Virgin Island belonging to Puerto Rico, is located between the main island of Puerto Rico and St. Thomas. It is about 21 miles from east to west, and 4 miles from north to south with nearly three-quarters of the island's 52 square miles protected by wildlife reserves. It is the largest National Park and eco-destination in the Caribbean.
The undeveloped natural beauty, archaeological history, and funky old-world Caribbean charm make Vieques a unique adventure. Sugary white sand beaches, crystal clear turquoise waters, a one-of-a-kind Bioluminescent Bay, and weather temperatures hovering near 80ºF all year round make Vieques the perfect vacation destination. Activities include scuba diving, snorkeling, mountain biking, bird watching, fishing, hiking, kayaking, swimming, beach combing, and of course relaxing and sunbathing!
Travel to Vieques is so easy because it is a Commonwealth of the United States. The currency is US dollars, many residents speak English and passport and customs are not required! Paradise is just a quick flight or ferry ride away from the main island.
